Dallas, TX, July 6, 2017 — To celebrate international destinations newly available from Southwest Airlines' updated and expanded facility at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airport, America's original and largest low-fare carrier is infusing South Florida's lively art scene with an interactive mural painted by local street artist Ruben Ubiera.

The mural, located in the FATVillage arts district of Ft. Lauderdale, brings to life the vibrant cultures of Southwest's near-international destinations served nonstop from FLL airport: Belize City, Cancun, Cuba, Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, Nassau, Punta Cana, San Jose, Costa Rica, and Turks & Caicos.

&We want to let South Floridians know that flying out of Southwest's new Ft. Lauderdale terminal is an opportunity to bypass the crowd in Miami for well-earned vacations,& said Steve Goldberg, Southwest Airlines' Senior Vice President and Executive lead for Florida. &We recognize the value art has in the Ft. Lauderdale community and hope this work inspires turning dreams of travel into reality.&

Admirers of the #Heartoftravel art installation are interacting with the mural by posing for photos to &pull back& an integrated painted curtain. A 30-second time-lapse video, created by digital agency of record RPA, shows Ubiera creating his grand masterpiece. The video is being shared on Southwest's Facebook and Instagram channels.

&Having Ruben Ubiera, who's known as the 'king of the walls,' create this work of art to illustrate Southwest's new flights allows us to tap into the diverse culture of South Florida and appeal to people's sense of wanderlust,& said Joe Baratelli, EVP, Chief Creative Officer at RPA.
