MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., — May 12, 2014 — Following the first-ever small business commercial in February's championship football game courtesy of Intuit Small Business Big Game, sponsored by Intuit QuickBooks, the company is supporting the three runner-up winners — Barley Labs, Locally Laid Egg Company and POOP — Natural Dairy Compost — each with a 30-second TV spot to bring to life their unique small business identity.
The three 30-second spots — "Happy Dogs," "Taste of Freedom" and "Madam of Manure" — will run on Fox Sports 1 and 2 in May and June as well as on Intuit's YouTube channel and will be promoted on the company's Twitter and Facebook. Each spot is also available for the individual businesses to share on their own social channels.
"Our goal for Small Business Big Game was to create a program where everyone wins, while recognizing small businesses on a national stage," said Ken Wach, vice president of marketing, Intuit Small Business Group. "Providing these worthy small businesses with a national advertisement gives these finalists a voice that will grow their business and inspire others."
After their involvement in the Intuit Small Business Big Game program, each of the three small businesses experienced significant business impact.
Barley Labs treats are now being sold nationally on Wag.com, Facebook likes increased 118 percent, sales increased 121 percent and the program also enabled the company to qualify for a loan for a new facility.
POOP experienced a 705 percent increase in website traffic, Facebook likes increased 145 percent and Twitter followers increased 242 percent, their largest retail customer tripled their order and the company went from selling 250 bags in the first 6 months to selling 800 bags in one day.
Locally Laid reports a 300-percent increase in feed-related sales, a 30-percent increase in egg sales and a 100-percent increase in shirt sales.
Small Business Big Game Summary Small Business Big Game was a six-month program by Intuit to share small-business stories with the world and recognize their contributions, providing more than $25 million in rewards and offers to help them succeed. About the Advertisements The 30-second TV spots for the runner-up winners were created and produced by RPA, an independent fully integrated advertising agency based in Santa Monica, Calif.
Each small business collaborated with Intuit and RPA to shape the creative concept and participated on set at Ventura Farms in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The Barley Labs spot features a montage of found dog footage, while the spot for Locally Laid Egg Company pokes fun at the innuendo of the company's name. And the POOP — Natural Dairy Compost spot stars puppets to relay the chemical- and stink-free attributes of the company's product.
"Our goal was to give a voice to each of these charming small businesses that reflects the brands' genuine personalities," said Adam Lowrey, creative director at RPA, Intuit Small Business' advertising agency. "It was inspiring to create spots for the winning small business, knowing what it would mean for the small business community as a whole to be represented on national TV among huge, well-known brands."
