RPA Appoints New SVP, Media Strategy, Integration and Analytics

Santa Monica, Calif., July 19, 2012 - RPA, the largest advertising agency headquartered in Los Angeles, and the third-largest independent agency in the country, welcomes Jim Helberg as SVP, Media Strategy, Integration and Analytics. He will become a member of the agency's Office of Media Communications, which is responsible for integrated traditional and interactive media plans that match the imagination and emotional intent of each ad campaign's creative strategy.

Early in his career, Helberg worked for RPA on the Honda account, shortly after the agency became independent in 1986.

Helberg will work on major client initiatives, including new business. His primary role and responsibilities will include helping RPA to broaden and deepen its capabilities by:

  • representing the media discipline and its role in creating overall marketing communication objectives and strategies;
  • directing and helping senior management develop overarching high-level media strategies, including cross-platform development with other agency/media disciplines;
  • enhancing planning and buying diagnostics, helping to customize offerings based upon individual client needs; and
  • establishing clear objectives and synergistic cross-functional communication leading toward further development of both brand and media analytics/modeling as well as assisting with the growing importance of accountability standards.

During his career, Helberg has worked across multiple categories including automotive, packaged goods, airlines, fast food and financial services. He was most recently EVP, Product Marketing and Analytics for Autobytel. Previously, he held key positions, including Media Director at FCB, Grey and Saatchi in Southern California. His experience also includes overseeing all media activity at OMD and PHD on Nissan and then Chrysler, both in L.A. and Detroit.

Beyond his agency background, Helberg also has served as Group Vice President, Corporate Sales and Marketing at Time Inc., working across all divisions of Time Warner.
