The royal wedding frenzy is upon us, and Farmers Insurance is doing its best to align with British culture by taking some of its most popular ‘Hall of Claims’ spots and pepping them up with British slang.
The insurance brand is celebrating the highly anticipated nuptials by ‘British-ifying’ its brand for the week leading up to the crowning event. Declaring, “We’re all a little British” in honor of the big day, Farmers has created British versions of its signature real-life claims ‘We Know from Experience’ spots, while also converting language and content on its Facebook profile to reflect British vernacular and imagery.
In its ‘Vengeful Vermin’ spot, the squirrels that pummel a man’s car with pinecones are accented by printed descriptors of the action, saying “a poor bloke…some barmy vermin…a dented bonnet…we know our onions and covered it.”
The mountain lion in ‘Close Claws’ that perches on the car of “mates on holiday” is called “a dodgy beast.” A third Brit-speak spot for social media, by agency RPA, shows an animated carriage ride gone wrong, with text hoping that doesn’t happen for the royal wedding – but, of course, the company says it will cover it should that happen.
The brand even puts its spokesman, Prof. Nathaniel Burke, played by Oscar-winner JK Simmons, in a bowler hat for brand’s Facebook cover photo, with the statement, “This week, we’re all a little British.”
