As the PGA gets closer to resuming its season, golf is already coming back — albeit not quite in the same way. Farmers Insurance® is among a select group of sponsors for TaylorMade® Driving Relief, a live golf event airing on NBC on May 17 in support of charities combating COVID-19. Tasked with garnering excitement for the match among golf fans with just a week’s notice, RPA developed a campaign featuring longtime brand ambassador Rickie Fowler preparing to return to his sport under very different circumstances— with social distancing guidelines and without cheering fans. To pull it off, Rickie was sent recording equipment and detailed storyboards in order to film himself at his home in South Florida. The result is a series of fun and lighthearted TV and social spots announcing that golf is “back-ish,” as well as a heartfelt video explaining Farmers’ charitable contribution to the event, a $1 million pledge backing a birdies-and-eagles pool benefitting Off Their Plate – an organization helping COVID-19 healthcare workers and impacted frontline shift employees.
