Campaign Overview

thinkLA hosted the fifth annual thinkLA IDEA Awards Gala (formerly the Interactive Awards) on June 4. The IDEA Awards pay tribute to Los Angeles as a hotbed of creativity and brand building.

Each year thinkLA asks a local agency to be the creative partner for the show and this year it was RPA based on winning Campaign of the Year in 2014. RPA created a whimsical campaign for The Idea Awards themed "WHAT IF WE…" that is all about that burst of inspiration right at the beginning of any great idea. It all starts with those three little words. Regardless of discipline, Creative, Media, Sales or Software, we wanted to emphasize that ideas are what drive this industry forward.

The clever campaign includes a centerpiece video, "Inception to Celebration," out-of-home placements leading up to the event and animations shown during the event. “Inception to Celebration” is a type animation that reveals all an idea needs to go through to become great. "Dreamed," "crushed it," and "struck gold" communicate the emotions, desires and realities advertising professionals face.

In addition, we asked industry people to collaborate by writing down the first word that came to mind. Local LA artists were then commissioned to create original works of art inspired by these words. And three completed pieces of artwork were given at the IDEA Awards Gala, with proceeds benefiting Ad Relief of Los Angeles.
