Campaign Overview

To capitalize on the thrill and excitement of Honda racing and to promote their popular "Fastest Seat in Sports" sweepstakes, Honda has engineered the IndyCar® Speed Simulator digital experience that turns any street into a track, and lets everyone experience the exhilaration of taking a lap in an Indy car. Honda utilizes Google Maps to give users the ability to take virtual Indy car rides around custom-formed tracks. By typing an address into the simulator's location bar, Google Maps technology lets fans see what it looks like to take two Indy car laps around practically any block in the world.

Once users have entered their addresses, Google Maps forms a custom racetrack. A Google Street View image of the user's location appears and a hyper-lapse of images strung together plays to take users on the first lap of their custom racetrack. After the first lap is complete, a pit crew runs onto screen to change the Indy car's tires.

At the end of the simulator ride, users are prompted to enter the "Fastest Seat in Sports" sweepstakes for a chance to experience the same thrill in person and share the simulator on social media. Honda's "Fastest Seat in Sports" sweepstakes gives racing enthusiasts the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride in an Indy Car 2-seater driven by a world-renowned driver before a major race. Participants can also win a trip to next year's Indianapolis 500® or one of 12 races this season.
